Presentation

  1. Hey Sachika,
Your poem about the Palestinian culture, was one of my favorite poems presented. I felt as this poem and the repetition you identified as extremely powerful. I enjoyed how each stanza began with "I am an Arab". It really explained the purpose of the piece. The author was clearly proud of where he came from and like you said in your thesis, he took "a stand for his people". This choice of poetry and your essay as a whole I thought really complimented one of your main arguments of the balance between separation and equality in a functioning society. I also loved the introduction and the conclusion of your presentation. It really stuck out to me. Great job!

  2. Throughout your entire project, I think you not only did a great job of analyzing Forster's writing style but also bringing in your own culture and writing style. I especially enjoyed reading your research paper because you drew personal experiences as examples of the separate yet equal theme that Forster addressed in A Passage to India. Also, I thought that your poem brought depth into the theme as it showed us that the relationship between separation and equality can be found in areas other than India, such as Palestine. Lastly, the introduction with the Indian flag was very creative and I think it did a great job of tying your whole presentation together in showing us what Forster wanted us to learn from his novel. Overall, awesome job!

  3. You had such a great presentation! I felt like you really connected with us the audience and that made it all the easier for us I think to understand what you were trying to convey. You always had really good eye contact, you enunciated your words very well and you really didn’t have any slip ups. You really did a great job analyzing your works too! I can tell that you really put a lot of time and effort into not only reading into what the author’s message was but also the way that Forester used.

  4. Great work Sachika. Your theme of division carried through your entire project very well because of how it was present in a variety of elements. The title of the blog, “Divided | We fall”, the backdrop of the powerpoint being brown on one side and white on another, as well as the choice of the poem to analyze all had fit into the theme very well. This theme of division is a great reflection of your novel, A Passage to India. The passage pulled from your I think that the overall presentation was very good and you presented in a very clear and concise manner.

  5. Hey Sach! As always, your presentation was very engaging. I loved the message of division right from the start with the way that you designed your powerpoint. It was also unique because you were able to weave your own culture and experiences in it, and it was so much more engaging because we learned so much about your novel and also a lot about you. I also know that a lot of us struggled to make our presentations engaging with huge chunks of texts to worry about just reading straight off, but the way you exaggerated certain points through different fonts to keep your audience interested was very creative and effective. I’m a bit of a font nerd, and normally an excessive use of fonts would bother me, but you did it very effectively. Well done!
